Shipping and Receiving Warehouse Associate

Location: West Chicago

1st shift

7:30am - 4:00

Position Summary

The Shipping and Receiving Warehouse Associate is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of incoming and outgoing materials, inventory control, freight handling, and supporting production operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate shipments, timely receipt of materials, and maintaining a safe and organized warehouse environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conduct daily forklift inspections to ensure equipment is operating safely and report any issues immediately.

  • Unload inbound freight from trucks and containers in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Weigh skids and pallets for outbound freight shipments.

  • Verify roll counts and product quantities prior to wrapping and shipment.

  • Review and verify pick lists for accuracy and submit completed documentation to the office for preparation of Bills of Lading.

  • Shrink wrap skids and pallets to ensure products are secure for transportation.

  • Apply correct shipping labels and attach required paperwork to all outbound shipments.

  • Load outbound trucks accurately and safely using forklifts and other material-handling equipment.

  • Prepare UPS and FedEx packages for pickup and shipment.

  • Transport raw materials to slitting machines using a forklift.

  • Assist Warehouse Assistants and Slitter Operators with production-related duties as workload permits.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and work area.

  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Previous warehouse, shipping, receiving, or manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Forklift operation experience required; forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain certification.

  • Basic math, counting, and inventory verification skills.

  • Ability to read and understand shipping documents, pick lists, and bills of lading.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach throughout the workday.

  • Ability to lift and move materials safely with appropriate equipment or assistance.

  • Ability to work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and noise.

  • Ability to operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely.

Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Employees are required to wear the following protective equipment while performing their duties:

  • Steel-toe boots or equivalent foot protection while in the plant.

  • Company-provided back support.

  • Hearing protection at all times within the plant.

Work Environment

This position works in a warehouse and manufacturing setting where safety, accuracy, and efficiency are essential. The employee must adhere to all company policies and procedures while supporting shipping, receiving, inventory, and production operations.
