Job Position: Welder
Location: St Charles, IL60174
Shift: 2nd shift.
Description:
A welder set-up & operator will utilize welding equipment by applying welds per drawing specifications to product components. Must be able to work with welding standards and specifications, create various jigs, program and re-program numerous metal components made from various gauges of stainless steel to produce metal welded assembly parts. Must measure dimensions of production parts using calipers, micrometers, and templates to ensure conformance with quality standards.
Job Duties
Responsible for preparing parts needed for production from raw materials
Responsible for welding and fabricating standard products
Assist in monthly inventory count to ensure proper inventory control
Inspect quality of prepared raw materials before welding into each product. Report any discrepancies to the Supervisor or Quality Control Specialist
Assist in large project construction and assembly when necessary
Measuring and cutting raw materials to be used in fabricating parts, when necessary
Actively look for ways to improve the profitability and productivity of the company
Position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools in accordance with layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics and sketches
Skills and Experience Required
Must have welding experience, experience welding stainless steel preferred
Ability to interpret documents and drawings
Must be able to use mathematics to solve problems
Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
Must be organized and pay close attention to detail to optimize quality processes and increase efficiency
Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. routinely
Ability to stand for minimum of 8 hours
Must be able to interpret welding symbols per AWS
Education or Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent (Required); College Degree preferred
Must have experience welding.
